Over 900 policemen martyred in Balochistan in last 10 years

QUETTA -- Over 900 policemen have lost their lives in Pakistan’s south western Balochistan province since 2009, says police.

Since 2009, 911 police officials across Balochistan have been killed while combating terrorists which include senior and junior officials.

These figures were given by Balochistan Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Butt while talking to the media.

“Balochistan police have rendered great sacrifices to protect the lives of the people and restore peace to the province. They have never bowed down against terror,” he said.

Balochistan has faced a number of security challenges in recent months, with security personnel in the province often being targeted in roadside explosions.

Last month at least 14 security officials were offloaded from buses and were shot dead by terrorists on the Makran Coastal Highway in Balochistan.

In the same month 22 people were killed and several others injured when an explosion went off at a vegetable market in Quetta targeting Shia community.
