Afghan President Ashraf Ghani makes new olive branch to Afghan Taliban

KABUL - Afghan President Ashraf Ghani says the government is ready to announce a ceasefire if the Taliban show readiness in this regard.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the Grand Consultative Jirga on Peace in Kabul on Friday, he said his government is ready to implement all recommendations mentioned in the Peace Jirga’s resolution.
The Afghan President said he apologizes to Kabul residents for the problems created for them during the Peace Jirga.
He said that the Peace Jirga resolution will be the roadmap for the Afghan government.
Meanwhile, Ghani announced the release of 175 Taliban prisoners as a gesture of goodwill towards peace.
