Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit snubbed in Indian Foreign Office

NEW DELHI – Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit on Wednesday rejected allegations of Indian soldiers’ mutilation, clearly stating that ‘no such incident has occurred along the line of control (LoC)’.
Basit was summoned by Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar to convey India s outrage at the alleged mutilation of the bodies of two Indian soldiers on May 1, 2017.
"The Foreign Secretary summons Pakistan HC, conveys India s outrage, demands action against Pakistani soldiers and commanders responsible," tweeted Indian foreign ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay.
According to sources, Abdul Basit rejected all the allegations and said that no such incident has occurred near the LoC.
He has expressed hope that India won’t deteriorate situation on basis of mere allegations.
During a routing weekly hotline contact with his Indian counterpart on Tuesday, Pakistan Director General Military Operations (DGMO) had also rejected baseless and unfounded Indian allegations of mutilation of Indian Army soldier’s bodies by Pakistan Army.
He reiterated that neither Cease Fire Violations (CFV) occurred in the alleged sector nor crossing of LoC by Pakistani troops has taken place.
DGMO Pakistan Army asked for actionable evidence and urged that Indian Army should look inwards to probe the incidence and also cautioned his Indian counterpart that Pakistan is fully committed to maintain peace and tranquility along the LoC, however, any misadventure shall be appropriately responded at a place and time of own choosing.
