Pakistan Railways to purchase 40,000 acres land to connect Gwadar with Quetta and Jacobabad

ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Railways is all set to purchase around 227 acres land for its newly announced Gwadar Division to develop adequate communication infrastructure owing to cater the logistic needs of the future hub of economic activities.
“Pakistan Railways had already announced Gwadar as its eighth division and offered extra benefits to those officials who are willing to work for the development of railways in the port city,” an official in the Ministry of Railways told APP.
He said Pakistan Railways had purchased a land area of 365 acres for Gwadar Division due to hub for economic activities. More 40,000 acres was also being purchased to connect Gwadar with Quetta and Jacobabad.
To a question, he said Pakistan Railways had set yet another record by generating revenue of Rs60.55 million in a day (December 1) from sale of around 51,610 passenger tickets.
He said the passenger tickets worth above Rs 20 million were sold through e-ticketing. The record sale of tickets was expected to bring in huge revenue to Pakistan Railways.
“Pakistan Railway had sold record number of passenger tickets worth Rs50.62 million in a single day on November 27, this year,” the official added.
