PAF has played decisive role in war against terrorism: Air Chief

The sixth squadron of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) marked its 75th anniversary in a ceremony held at the PAF Base Nur Khan in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

The event was attended by  PAF Chief of the Air Staff Sohail Aman who was the chief guest.

While war veterans, former air chiefs as well as retired and serving officers were also present.

“PAF has remained at the forefront in the war on terror in which we have learnt invaluable lessons in 15 years of engagement,” Aman said.

“The squadron played a decisive role in Operation Zarb-e-Azb providing assistance to frontline fighter aircraft in areas where terrorists were hiding,” he added.

This enabled the PAF to achieve landmark success against terrorists without any collateral damage,” he added.

The Air Chief also rolled out a commemorative postage stamp issued by Pakistan Post in honour of the service rendered by the squadron during the past 75 years.

A documentary to pay rich tribute to the history of the squadron was also shown.

The squadron is the oldest squadron of the PAF and was established back in 1942.
