KABUL - India uses Afghanistan and uses its soil against Pakistan. There is no doubt about this. They do this and why has this context been provided to them? Why has such a condition come that the Afghan government and a number of people provide the situation for India to interfere in Pakistan,” Head of Afghan National solidarity movement Syed Ishaq Gailani said in Islamabad.
Officials from Afghanistan’s Attorney General’s Office (AGO) on Monday said that they have summoned the head of the National Solidarity Movement of Afghanistan, Sayed Ishaq Gailani, over his controversial remarks which many in the country believe were not in the interests of national security.
Gailani must appear before the special court on crimes against the national and external security, said AGO spokesman Jamshid Rasuli.
Rasuli went on to say that despite the AGO summoning Gailani to appear before the AGO two days ago, Gailani has so far not appeared.
Two weeks ago, Gailani said during a speech in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad that the Afghan government paved the way for India to use Afghan soil against Pakistan.
Gailani’s remarks sparked a major backlash and many called for legal action to be taken against him.
The Afghan government on Thursday raised concerns about remarks made by Gailani, and said his statements had not been in the interests of Afghanistan.
