Babar Azam is disappointed despite playing best knock of his T20 carrier
KARACHI - *Pakistan middle order batsman Babar Azam has expressed disappointment over missing on a hundred, as Pakistan humbled the West Indies once again and clinched the series 2-0 on Monday.*
“I am really sad about not making a hundred. I had Shoaib Malik with me for support but just so happened that I failed to utilize the remaining balls to get my century,” Babar said at the post match presentation.
The youngster was just three runs short of what could have been his first ton in the game’s shortest format, however, Babar’s unbeaten knock of 97 including 13 boundaries and one maximum managed to provide the platform for Pakistan batting line, which went on to score 205 runs at the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs.
Meanwhile, the West Indies were nowhere in the game, despite some resistance shown by opener Chadwick Walton, who scored 40 off 29 deliveries, but the visitors were wrapped up on 123, losing the game and the series by 82 runs.
Babar, however, dismissed the notion that West Indies is a weak side, saying that they are all after all the reigning T20 champions.
“It’s an important achievement for any team to win a series. We never consider a team to be weaker than us. The West Indies are after all, World T20 champions as well,” he said.
