WASHINGTON: NATO is eating up US resources for its defence: Donald Trump
US Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump which is famous for his controversial statements again claimed that NATO is eating up US resources for its defence.
Trump criticized NATO allies and claimed that they are not paying reasonable share for defence as compared to US.
He said “That means we are protecting them, giving them military protection and other things, and they’re ripping off the United States. And you know what we do? Nothing.”
“Either they have to pay up for past deficiencies or they have to get out.” He added.
Trump was talking to a campaign rally in Racine, Wisconsin.
US president Barack Obama criticized Trump for his controversial statement.
Obama said “The person who made the statements doesn’t know much about foreign policy or nuclear policy or the Korean peninsula, or the world generally.”
Obama claimed that he has also warned Trump earlier that his controversial statements are producing a bad image of US to the world.
