Pak-Turk relations: Turkish investors keen to invest in Pakistan

LAHORE (APP): A high-level delegation led by Ambassador of Turkey Sadik Babur Girgin called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here Thursday.

Matters of mutual interest, further promotion of Pak-Turk relations and enhancing cooperation in different sectors were discussed during the meeting.

Members of the delegation congratulated the Chief Minister on his successful visit to Turkey and Turk investors expressed keen interest in investment in different sectors of Punjab.

Talking to the delegation, Shehbaz Sharif said that his recent visit was for expression of solidarity with the leadership and people of Turkey.

He said useful meetings were held with Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister Bin Ali Yilidrim and other leadership and agreed to enhance cooperation in health and other sectors.

He said that the coup attempt foiled by people of Turkey under the leadership of great leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan was unprecedented in the history.

He said people of Turkey successfully defended their country by laying before the tanks and did not care for their lives, adding that Turk people had written a new history of valour and determination for democracy.

Shehbaz Sharif said people of Pakistan and Turkey were very close to each other and there was a relation of deep affiliation and mutual respect between the people of both the countries.

He said both the countries had to further promote cooperation in trade, economic and other sectors and time had come to further increase trade volume of two countries.

He said several Turk investor companies were working in Punjab, and added that vast opportunities of investment were available in housing, infrastructure, health, vocational training and Saaf Pani sectors.

He said Turk investors should come forward and benefit from the opportunities and they would be provided all out facilities.

The Chief Minister said Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had promised to soon visit Pakistan. He congratulated Turk Consul General posted in Lahore and expressed good wishes for him. With opening of Turk Consulate, Pak- Turk relations would be promoted, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Turk Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin said that there were historical brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey.

He thanked leadership and people of Pakistan for expressing solidarity with Turkey during coup attempt and added that speedy steps would be taken for further promoting ties with Punjab.

Turk Consul General said that Punjab had made record development under the leadership of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said he would try to play his due role for the promotion of cooperation between Punjab and Turkey.

Heads of leading business houses of Turkey Atilla Demir Yerlikaya, President Foreign Economic Relations Board Turkey Omer Cihad Vardan, Chairman TUMSIAD Yasar Dogan, first consul general of Turkey appointed in Lahore Serdar Deniz, Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Chairman Punjab Investment Board and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
