CPEC Western route: Project status update

ISLAMABAD (APP): Spokesperson to Balochistan government Anwarul Haq Kakar has said that the western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would be functional in next six month.

Talking to VOA, he said that Prime Minister has visited Gwadar and Sibi-Kohlu and both are located at the distance of 800 km from each other.

He said Sibi-Kohlu are hard areas regarding terrorism and militancy and this road has reduced time period to both areas from Multan. So far as motorway from Gwadar to D I Khan is concerned, land requisition has been made for this project, he added.

He said inauguration of free trade zones at Gwadar Port has conveyed a strong and welcoming message to the entire world for availability of business opportunities at Gwadar Port.

He informed that Balochistan government studied a number of ports related models in practice in the world and then we talked with the federal government about the management of Gwadar Port.

Contract for the motorway from D I Khan to Balkasar has been awarded and Western route will be functional in next six months, he added.
