National team opener Abdullah Shafiq has equaled the record of Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez for the most half centuries scored in a World Cup. In the match played against Bangladesh yesterday, Abdullah Shafiq scored 68 runs.
This is his fourth half century in the ongoing World Cup in India, making him join the list of Pakistani batters who have scored the most half centuries in a World Cup alongside Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez, who had each made four centuries in the 2019 and 2015 World Cups, respectively.
The national record for scoring the most half centuries in a single World Cup is held by Javed Miandad, who scored five centuries in the 1992 Cricket World Cup.
It's worth noting that after four consecutive losses in the World Cup, Pakistan finally won a match against Bangladesh by defeating them by seven wickets.
In the 31st match of the ICC World Cup played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Bangladesh had set a target of 205 runs, which Pakistan achieved with a loss of 3 wickets in 32.3 overs.
