LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench granted interim bail to opposition leader in Punjab Assembly, Hamza Shehbaz , till Nov 13, a day prior to his appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The bench, headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, passed the orders on petitions, filed by Hamza Shehbaz for pre-arrest bail.
Hamza, along with his counsel, appeared before the bench. The counsel, Azam Nazir Tarar, argued that NAB had launched various inquiries against his client, including Ramzan Sugar mills and Saaf Pani cases.
He said that the petitioner had already provided NAB with all information required by the investigators and intended to cooperate with them. He submitted that the petitioner had apprehensions that NAB would arrest him on his appearance before its investigation team. He asked the court to grant him pre-arrest bail.
After hearing the arguments, the court granted interim bail to Hamza Shehbaz till Nov 13 and directed him to deposit surety bonds of Rs one million, besides issuing notices to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities.
It is pertinent to mention here that NAB had issued call-up notices for Nov 2 to Hamza Shehbaz and his brother Salman Shehbaz.
