Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed makes important statement over NAB laws amendment

ISLAMABAD - Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that no changes are expected in the laws of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) anytime soon.

While addressing media in Lahore today, Sheikh Rasheed said that it is not possible to incorporate changes in NAB laws recommended by the opposition.

“NAB will be back in action after Eid. The draft of NAB Amendment Ordinance circulating on social media was fake. Imran Khan is not going to leave any corrupt,” he said.

He further said that sugar mafia is part of every party. “I have yet to see a cabinet without wheat or sugar mafia,” he added.

Speaking on the issue if lockdown, he said that unemployment rate will increase significantly if restrictions are not lifted.

“It’s a joke not a lockdown. The markets are partially operational which is causing distress to the shopkeepers. Eid is approaching and income of several businessmen is associated with it. In my opinion, lockdown should be lifted or else it will result in unemployment,” he added.

Responding to a question related to recent changes in federal cabinet, Sheikh Rasheed said,

“You will see Firdous Ashiq Awan on media because whoever gets used to the media doesn’t go away. The new team of information ministry is great. Shibli Faraz is on the forefront while Bajwa is leading from behind,” he said.

Briefing on the situation of his ministry, he said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to restructure the railways.

“We are making 30 trains functional on the instruction of PM. We are suffering a loss of five billion per month due to Coronavirus closures,” he added.
