PM Imran Khan announced new initiative for the unemployed youth due coronavirus economic crisis

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the launch of a web portal for unemployed people under the second phase of the Ehsaas cash programme.

While speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, he said that the second phase of this programme would focus on those who have lost their jobs due to coronavirus pandemic.

“People who have been unemployed should go to this website and register themselves. All those who register would have to prove that they were working at some organization and when they lost their jobs,” he said.

PM further said that Ehsaas Program is exemplary saying that 81 billion rupees were distributed to over 60 million families in three weeks.

PM said that he is personally monitoring the accountability process for the corona relief fund.

“I assure people that their funds would be utilized in a transparent manner and the nation would be provided with all details of the audit,” he said.

Referring to the price of petroleum products, he said that Pakistan has the lowest petrol price in the subcontinent.

“We reduced price of petrol by Rs. 45 in one month,” he added.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar explained the process of registering for the second phase of the Ehsaas cash programme.

Nishtar said that this phase is focused on providing relief to people who have been unemployed because of the coronavirus.

"They can register through the government's portal and the registrations would only be accepted through the web portal,” she stated.
