Govt committed to protect interests of small farmers: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan says agriculture is of key importance to national economy and it is government’s priority to protect the interests of small farmers.
Chairing a meeting in Lahore to discuss the procurement of wheat for the current year, he said a bumper crop is expected this year consequent to sufficient rains.
The Prime Minister directed to ensure transparency in procurement of wheat and devise a plan to use modern technology in this process.
He also called for measures to avoid wastage of crop and mull a strategy for public-private partnership.
The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to plan establishment of modern infrastructure for storage of wheat.
