US appreciates Pakistan for detaining JeM Chief Masood Azhar: US Officials
WASHINGTON: US appreciated Pakistan for detaining JeM Chief Masood Azhar against Pathankot air base attacks.

 

Spokesperson of the state department said after the meeting between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz in Washington.

 

“Noting the steps taken by Pakistan to date, including the detention of Jaish-e-Mohammad JeM leader Maulana Masood Azhar, the US appreciated PM Nawaz’s stated commitment to take prompt and decisive action on this investigation and to bring the perpetrators of the January 2, 2016 attack on the Pathankot air base to justice.” The statement read.

 

Seven Indian soldiers were killed in Pathankot air base attack in January.

 

India claimed that JeM leader was involved in the planning of attacks and an FIR was also launched in Pakistan relating to Pathankot incident.

 

Both leaders also discussed the bilateral cooperation in different fields.

 

Sartaj Aziz thanked Kerry for defending sale of F-16 jets to Pakistan in front of Congressional committee.
