Blasts and gun fire heard near Indian Consulate in Jalalabad, Afghanistan
KABUL: Blasts and gun fire was heard near the Indian consulate in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad.

 

The blast was too heavy which shattered doors and windows of nearest buildings and destroyed at least eight cars.

 

Indian news paper claimed that there were four terrorists who attacked at Indian consulate but got killed by security forces.

 

It also claimed that a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the Indian consulate.

 

Spokesmen for the governor of Nangarhar provine said “Their target was the Indian consulate, but our forces shot and killed them all before they reached their target.”

 

Rescue teams and security forces rushed to the incident spot and cordoned off the area.

 

The consulate staff remained safe and no causalities were reported.

 

Indian consulate in northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif was also attacked in January.

 

No one has yet claimed the responsibility for the attack.
