Opposition not getting appropriate response in Parliament

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the opposition parties were not getting appropriate response from treasury benches during the proceedings of the parliament which was not a true democratic norm.

Talking to media at a joint press conference outside the Parliament, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along with the leadership of the opposition parties expressed their concerns and said the opposition was not being given chance to speak which was violation of the rules of the House.

Bilawal Bhutto said that the innocent people were beaten by police two days back while protesting before the accountability court. Besides the police also arrested two female parliamentarians of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), he added.

He demanded of the Speaker National Assembly to issue the production orders of Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir.

He condemned the references against some judges and added that such steps may affect the credibility of the institution.

Speaking on the occasion, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the incumbent government wanted the weak opposition and weak institutions.

He said the opposition had passed the resolution over the filing of references against judges in the upper House which would also be tabled in the National Assembly. He demanded the government to withdraw the references.

He urged the government to form parliamentary committees on both issues of North Waziristan and NAB chairman’s media trial.

Leader of the Balochistan National Party-M, Sardar Akhter Mengal said that the opposition would always be taking stand on the public interest issues.

He said, “Pakistan is a democratic country and every member has right to speak in the parliament.”

He said “We will also speak for the right thing to do on every forum whereas it is the responsibility of the government to run the business of the House.”
