Economic Survey 2015-16: Government failed to achieve target GDP Growth

ISLAMABAD: National Economic Survey 2015-16 has been issued by government to highlight its achievements in fiscal year 2015-16 here at today.

According to the survey, economic growth remained at 4.7% while 5.5% GDP had been set by government but government could not reach at 5.5% target due to damage of cotton crop while some important targets have also not been achieved by government in fiscal year 2015-16.

Addressing to the media, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that present government has completed its three years while economic growth target could have been achieved by government if the production of cotton had remained stable.

Talking about the agricultural department, he pointed out that agriculture department has affected due to decline in prices in international market while a big package would be announced by government in budget of next fiscal year as well as Rs. 60 billion Kisan Package has been given to improve the performance of agricultural department.

Survey report revealed that industrial development growth remained at 6.1% while transport and communication departments have improved by 4%. Pakistan Railways and PIA performance improved in past fiscal year.
