ISLAMABAD: The Federal cabinet on Wednesday has taken final decision over removing the names of 172 placed on ECL.
Federal cabinet has not removed the 172 names from ECL after Supreme Court ordered government to reviews the names put on ECL.
Cabinet has decided to review the 172 names recently placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) on an individual basis.
The federal cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
A total of 172 names were placed on the ECL after the Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) report in money laundering and fake accounts case.
However, it was decided during the meeting that not all names will be removed from the list immediately but on a case by case basis after an investigation is completed.
According to State Interior Minister Shahriyar Khan Afridi, the premier was given a briefing over the matter by legal experts during the meeting.
In addition, the meeting was held under a 20-point agenda, including discussion of union council chairman’s registration, Pakistan-China prisoner transfer, constitution of a special committee for transformation in Karachi and the sale of poor quality stents.
