Doctors in Punjab to get an unprecedented pay package: Report

LAHORE - Doctors in Punjab to get an unprecedented pay package from the PTI government, it has been revealed.

As per the media report, The Punjab cabinet has approved a new pay package for the doctors serving in the state-run hospitals.

The total impact of the raise will amount to Rs17 billion annually. Under the initiative, the doctors in Punjab will draw salaries equal to those serving in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The package would be implemented from July 1, an official told Dawn. He said the biggest beneficiary would be the doctors belonging to the general cadre who are serving as medical officers/women medical officers and additional principal medical officers as they outnumber their other senior and junior colleagues in the government hospitals.

Similarly, the doctors serving in BS-17 and 18 in various cadres would also get hefty raise under the new pay package. The package draft was finalised and recommended by a committee headed by an additional chief secretary and sent to the government for final consideration, he said.
