National Security Committee meets in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – A meeting of National Security Committee with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the chair is underway in the federal capital, with a prime focus on US President Donald Trump’s tweet regarding Pakistan.

“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools,” Trump said in the early-morning New Year’s Day tweet, prompting Islamabad to take serious note.

“They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!”

The top civilian and military leadership of the country is in attendance.
