Lahore High Court contempt of court proceedings against CM Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court heard on Friday a contempt of court petition against the Punjab chief minister (CM) for not appointing a new director general (DG) of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA).
Petitioner Sheraz Zaka said that the chief justice on October 26 set aside the appointment of Dr Javed Iqbal as EPA DG for being not eligible.
He said further the chief justice had also ordered the government to appoint a new DG strictly in accordance with law. He said the government has not complied with the court order so far.
He alleged that Shahbaz Sharif committed contempt of court by not appointing a new DG.
