Muslim taxi driver shot down after being asked to confirm identity in an incident of Islamophobia

PENINSULA: A cab driver in Pittsburgh was shot in the back by an Islamophobic passenger who ranted about Daesh (ISIS) and mocked the Prophet Mohammed. The driver, who is originally from Morocco, was questioned about his ethnic background by the passenger who appeared to have a violent grudge against Muslims. The details were reported by the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette, which interviewed the driver in hospital after he was hit in the upper back with a single bullet. The driver wished to remain anonymous for fear of his safety, but told the newspaper how he picked up the passenger outside a casino at around 1am last Thursday. After arriving at the passenger's destination, the driver was told to wait so he could retrieve his wallet from the house. “I waited for just five minutes, I think, and I noticed that he came out of the house carrying a rifle in his hand. I noticed him coming toward me.” The driver quickly drove away, fearing for his life, but heard gunshots and was struck by a bullet after it smashed through the back window of his cab.(Pittsburgh-Post Gazette)
