Pakistan Foreign Secretary hold talks with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani

KABUL - At the head of a high-level delegation, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tahmina Janjua arrived in Kabul on Monday for talks with Afghan officials.

Janjua arrived here early in the morning and went straight into talks with President Ashraf Ghani and other Afghan officials on various issues, the Pakistan embassy said.

A credible government official, meanwhile, told Pajhwok Afghan News the foreign secretary discussed with her interlocutors Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s upcoming visit to Kabul.

The Pakistani premier is scheduled to visit Kabul on Friday in response to a formal invitation from President Ashraf Ghani.

Political analysts see Abbasi’s maiden trip to Afghanistan as highly important. The Afghan-led peace process will be thoroughly and frankly discussed.
