Afghanistan President makes fresh offer to Taliban

KABUL– Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has reached out to Pakistan, offering comprehensive negotiations to bring peace to their troubled relationship.
In his Eidul Azha message on Friday, he said: “Peace with Pakistan is our national agenda.”
The Afghan president urged militants to lay down their weapons.
He said that peace in the region is vital for better future.
In his address at the president house in Kabul, Ghani said the country was ready to take steps for regional peace and stability, based on logical debate and reasoning.
“I am reaching out for peace to everyone,” he said. “Because peace is God’s commandment.”
