Pakistan Railways upgradation projects under CPEC

LAHORE (APP): Pakistan Railways will play its vital role in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and under which it will upgrade its passenger and freight sectors.

These views were expressed by Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer M Javaid Anwar in a meeting with 11-member delegation of China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) held at PR headquarters here on Wednesday.

The PR CEO assured the delegation about all out skilled and professional facilities.

CREC vice chairman Ma Li thanked the PR administration for the provision of all out cooperation and efforts by the PR.

The CPEC focal person and team leader CPEC projects, Ashfaq Khatak, gave briefing to the Chinese company about the proposed projects, including Havelian Dryport, dualization of 159-km track between Peshawar and Rawalpindi, realignment of 52-km of track and up-gradation of 339-km for 160 km/hour. He also gave information about the developments on previous meetings and PR delegation future visit to China.

PR Additional General Manager Maqsoodun Nabi, AGM infrastructure Hamayun Rasheed and AGM mechanical Liaqat Ali Chughtai helped the CEO in the meeting.

Souvenirs were exchanged in the end of the meeting.
