Pakistan Army Information Based Operations details: ISPR   

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa said Armed forces had started Information Based Operations (IBOs) to tackle the reaction of operation Zarb-e-Azb. As many as 21,383 IOBs have so far been carried out in various areas of the country including 2,578 conducted in Balochistan, 9,308 in Punjab, 3,263 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 5,877 in Sindh.

He said 477 special IOBs were also carried out in various areas while a total of 1,399 terrorists were netted during IBOs.

The DG ISPR further said that Armed Forces had apprehended 744 terrorists in 168 combing operations conducted across the country.

Responding to a question he said `Daesh' was involved in attacking media houses especially attacking `Dunya News' in which two persons were injured. Three persons also received injuries in an attack on `Din News', Lahore while Express News, Sargodha was also attacked and three media persons suffered injuries in attack on `ARY news'.

Daesh' tried to enter into Pakistan in two parts namely `Katiba Haris' and `Kariba Mubashir'. Commander of Pakistan Hafiz Umer was involved in  killing 15 personnel of law enforcement agencies. Ali Rehman Tonna was involved in criminal activities and also targeting 10 personnel of law enforcers.

Responding to another question, he said significant decrease in violent incidents has been registered in Karachi after Rangers operation.

Giving details he said that a total 74 per cent decrease in terror activities, 94 per cent decrease in target killing and 89 per cent decrease in kidnapping for ransom incidents was recorded.

At least 30 Jawans of Rangers embraced martyrdom and 89 others sustained injuries. As many as 848 target killers have been sent behind the bars in Karachi operation while 268 hideouts of terrorists were busted.

To a question, he lamented burning of national flag in Afghanistan, however `Chaman' gate has been reopened after receiving apology from Afghanistan.

Responding to a query about implementation on National Action Plan (NAP), he expressed the hope that the implementation process would be accelerated.

He said that Pakistan was taking strict action against terrorists without classifying them as 'good or bad'.

Pakistan has solid evidence of involvement of 'Raw', Indian Intelligence Agncy and 'NDS', an Afghan Intelligence Agency in internal affairs of the country.

To another query, he said six terrorists including two terrorists affiliated with Al-Qaeda, have been arrested in a combing operation conducted in Faisalabad on Thursday morning, he told.
