IMF for reducing fiscal deficit of Pakistan Railways

ISLAMABAD - An IMF delegation led by its Resident Representative in Pakistan, Teresa Daben Sanchez called on Federal Minister for Railways, Sh. Rasheed Ahmad in Islamabad today.

The delegation expressed interest in finding out measures to reduce fiscal deficit of Pakistan Railways and to reduce its dependency on government's subsidy.

Minister for Railways said Pakistan Railways is aware of IMF role in improving economy. He said Pakistan Railways can earn profit by increasing its freight sector.

On a question from IMF team on Public Private Partnership, he said Pakistan Railways is open to such a partnership.
