British PM Theresa May responds over Pakistan SC decision on Aasia Bibi blasphemy case

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan supreme court verdict on Aasia Bibi blasphemy case has been lauded by the United Nations and the British Parliament.
The news of Supreme Court of Pakistan’s landmark judgement, which overturned the death sentence of Christian woman Aasiya Bibi in a blasphemy case, has made it to the British Parliament where it was welcomed by lawmakers, including by PM Theresa May.
Replying to the parliamentarians query, Prime Minister May said, “The news out of Pakistan of the release of Aasiya Bibi will be welcomed by her family and all those who have campaigned in Pakistan and around the world for her release. Our long-term position on [the] death penalty is well known and we call for its abolition globally.”
