Moulana Samiul Huq assassination: Important progress reported

*ISLAMABAD – An important progress was made in the murder case of Maulana Samiul Haq as the police nominated his personal secretary on Friday.*

The police produced him in the court of Civil Judge Zeb Shahzad Cheema who remanded him for four days. The court also ordered to produce him on March 5. The police had sought his 10-day remand.

On November 2, Maulana Samiul Haq, chief of his faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), was murdered by unidentified suspect(s) in a Safari villa in Bahria Town, Rawalpindi when his personal secretary Syed Ahmed Shah had gone to get water from a nearby filtration plant. He mysteriously went missing during his funeral.

Special teams were formed for his arrest. Later, he was arrested with the assistance of his relatives.

On December 5, an interim charge sheet of the case was submitted by the police to the judicial magistrate.
