ISLAMABAD: In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf and Jammiat ul Ulema Islam (F) have failed to reach a consensus on the nomination of caretaker Chief Minister.

The outgoing Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and leader of opposition in the dissolved provincial assembly Maulana Lutfur Rehman held talks in Islamabad last night to develop consensus about the nomination of caretaker chief minister. But the talks failed to make any headway.

Under Article 224A of the constitution, speaker of the dissolved provincial assembly will now constitute a six members committee to nominate caretaker Chief Minister from among the four names suggested by both the parties.

The committee is required to finalise name of the caretaker chief minister within three days. If the committee failed to do so, the names will be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan for final decision within two days.
