Red warrant of Mujahid Afridi in Asma murder case issued

KOHAT: The district police has sent formal request to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police chief for issuance of red-warrant for arrest of Mujahid Afridi, the main accused in Asma murder case, a 3rd-year student of Medical, District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Abbas Majeed Marwat told media.
           
The district Kohat police after through a letter requested Inspector General Police Salahuddin Mehsud to request Federal Interior Ministry for issuance of red-warrant of the accused via Home Department.
According to initial investigation, the accused had fled the country for Saudi Arabia after killing Asma Rani here.
It is to mention here that Sadiqullah, the brother and accomplice of Mujahid Afridi in alleged killing of Asma Rani was already nabbed by the police.
           
Asma’s family has alleged that prior to the murder, Asma had been threatened by the accused who was a relative of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Kohat chapter president Aftab Alam.
In an interview to a private TV channel, late Asma Rani’s sister, Safia Rania claimed that both the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and Aftab Alam knew about the life threats to her late sister but both didn’t cooperate in this regard.
Safia said her sister faced a constant campaign of harassment and threats from Mujahid Afridi, but no one came to their rescue despite the fact that she, her sister, and her family spoke to Aftab Alam, begging for help at least three times.
