IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in trouble over speech against ISI

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) issued another show-cause notice on Wednesday to Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui for controversial statements about Inter Services Intelligence ISI.

As per reports, the notice has been issued over the high court justice’s speech at the district bar of Rawalpindi last month. In the notice, Justice Siddiqui has been directed to reply by August 28.

On July 23, the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) denounced Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Siddiqui’s allegations.

The bars have appealed form Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar for taking action against Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui. They said that the allegations were conspiracy against the judiciary and state’s premier intelligence agency.

The bars spokesman said that the IHC judge’s allegation was interference in the judicial matters and contempt of court. He expressed anger saying that Shoukat Azizi tried to defame the sates institutions.

Condemning Justice Siddiqui’s allegations, the bars have demanded that the chief justice should take a highest level of actions against Justice Shoukat.
